Introduction:-

The Govt. Polytechnic Osmanabad , was established in 1985 and affiliated to Maharashtra State board of Technical Education Mumbai . Institute is located at Osmanabad, The campus is about 3 kms away from the city. Institute is spread over a large area of about 34 acres. Institute has all the residential facilities like Staff Quarters, Hostels, security arrangements etc. Big administrative building, Library, Lawns, Auditorium, Well equipped Computer and other labs, Play Ground, facilities for Indoor Games, Gymnasium, Student co-operative store. etc. make the education sheer pleasure.

The student of Govt. Polytechnic osmanabad participated in IEDSSA ( Engineering Diploma Student Sport Association) & Own the Prizes on regional & state level tournaments like Kabaddi, Badminton, Wt. lifting, Running, Wrestling etc.

* Final & second year student has visited to “JAIKWADI DAM” at PAITHAN & “WATER AND LAND MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE” at AURANGABAD during year 2003-04.
* Second year civil student has visited to “RAILWAY STATION, SOLAPUR”
* Five expert lectures has been arranged for second & final year Students like Executive engg. PWD, Section engg. Railway statio, Solapur, Store keeper PWD., Accountant B&C.

B) MECHANICAL DEPARTMENT:-

DIPEX Competition :-

There is a major role of EJ Dept. for this competition. Students are participating in this competition for each year. We are winning the prizes since last 5 – 6 years.

E) APM DEPARTMENT:-

*Testing of material such as Cement, Aggregate Sand, Steel, cube etc.

* Checking & Scrutiny of RCC & Steel design & drawing.

F) WORKSHOP DEPARTMENT :-

* The students are manufacturing useful & marketable jobs like window grills, table frames, wooden tables, stools, diwans, TV stands etc.
* In workshop work order are accepted at reasonable rates.
* Heavy duty & light duty machine like lathe, milling, shaping are being give on hiring basis.
* Repair works are carried out.
* Testing of equipment and machine is done.
* Major Equipments like Lathe machine, CNC machine etc.

G) COMPUTER DEPARTMENT:-

* Internet & CAI package lab.
* Internet & E-mail Facilities on 15 nodes.
* LCD projector.
* Advanced software like XP, Win2000, VB6.0, Autocad2000, photoshop.
* Conduction of MSCIT & GECT-EXAM.
* Interaction with various Government offices for development of software & Testing of computers.
* Developed the softwares for office Automation & Admission Process.

H) COMMUNITY POLYTECHNIC SCHEME:-

* INTRODUCTION:- The scheme of community has been started under the direct central assistance in 1999-2000 in this institution.

* OBJECTIVES:-
1) To train rural youth & women for self wage employment.
2) To access the resources & identify the needs for development & planning of rural areas.
3) To improve the quality of life of rural peoples.

* MAJOR ACTIVITIES OF THE SCHEME :-

1) Socio economic survey.
2) Manpower development.
3) Transfer of technology.
4) Tech. support services.
5) Dissemination of information

* ACTIVITIES PERFORMED:-

1) We are conducting course like Electrician, Embroidery, Tailoring & Cutting, Computer Operator, Welding, Carpentry, Motor rewinding, Chalk making, Candle making, TV & Radio mechanic, Scooter & Motor repair, Jewellery making, Food processing etc. All these training programs are conducted free of cost. In the last four years we have trained about 2000 rural youth & women in the district.

2) In the area of transfer of technology, we have conducted demonstration of bore-well recharging, Solar cooker, Solar lights, Soakpit, Roof rain water collection, Bio-gas plant etc.

3) In the area of Tech. support services, we have performed following works like house wiring, grills for anganwadi, tables for high school, Bullock-cart skeleton, Uniforms for students.

4)Under information dissemination component, we have conducted mahila mela, distributed booklets on earthquake resistant houses, safe drinking water & on irrigation methods.

5) We have also arranged films shows on subjects like AIDS, drugs & its effects.

6) We have established two extension centers of community polytechnic scheme in the district, one at Kajala & other at Tamalwadi.

7) Mrs. Ujawala Shinde (wife of Chief minister), Shri. B.I.kendre ( Additional collector), Shri. P.V.Sarode ( Joint Director, Aurangabad region) visited to our extension centers.
